California’s MATHCOUNTS team selected for national competition

Based on the combined results from the Northern California and Southern California State competitions, the following students qualified for the California MATHCOUNTS Team:

  • Andrew Gu, 8th grader from Ladera Ranch Middle School (Orange County, from the Southern California Competition)
  • Jack Albright, 8th grader from The Nueva School (Hillsborough, Peninsula Chapter, from the Northern California Competition)
  • Rishab Parthasarathy, 8th grader from the Harker School (San Jose, Santa Clara Valley Chapter, NorCal)
  • William Chen, 7th grader from William Hopkins Junior High (Fremont, Santa Clara Valley, NorCal)

The students will be coached by the coach of the top scoring school team in the combined competitions: Vandana Kadam, from The Harker School (San Jose, Santa Clara Valley Chapter, NorCal).

Last year, both Andrew Gu and Jack Albright were on the California team that placed third at the national MATHCOUNTS competition. Vandana Kadam is coaching the national team for the fifth time.

Congratulations to all participants, and good luck to our California MATHCOUNTS team!
