California’s MATHCOUNTS State Competition is held in two locations. Results from both competitions are considered together when determining the state team.

Schedule of Events
8:30-9:00 – Team Arrival and Registration
9:00-9:15 – Informal Welcome
9:15-9:35 – Competition Begins – Rules and Instructions (proctors and Mathletes only)
9:35-12:00 – COMPETITION (proctors and Mathletes only)
9:35-10:25 – Sprint Round (40 minutes)
10:25-10:35 – Break (10 minutes)
10:35-11:15 – Target Round (30 minutes)
11:15-11:25 – Team Huddle/Break (10 minutes)
11:25-12:00 – Team Round (20 minutes – independents stay and take the test for fun)
12:00-12:15 – Break (15 minutes)
12:15-1:15 – Lunch
1:15-1:30 – Stanford Welcome, Sponsor Recognition, Presentation (open to all)
1:30-2:30 – Countdown Round (open to all)
2:30-3:30 – Awards and Program Closing (open to all)
3:30 – Certificates of Participation and Score Sheets Presented to All Coaches in the Lobby
It is required that spectators leave the competition room during the written portion of the testing. You will not be permitted to communicate with the contestants until completion of the final round.
Coaches/chaperones for each student are required to supervise their students whenever the students are released outside the testing room. Lunch will be provided free of charge for all registered Mathletes, coaches and registered volunteers. Lunch is not provided for parents.
You are highly encouraged to watch the exciting Countdown Round in the afternoon. The Awards Ceremony will follow the Countdown Round.
Student Participation Certificates and scores will be available in the lobby immediately following the awards ceremony.
Exam questions and answers will be posted to the California MATHCOUNTS website, www.cspeef.org, as soon as they have been released by National MATHCOUNTS.
Facilities: All events listed will take place at the William R. Hewlett Teaching Center.
Parking: All marked “A,” “C,” and metered spaces across campus are available free parking.
